Hi my loves, back from the reel wurld. Life’s been busy, but I always have time for YOU and styling- you know that!! (I don’t know why I’m talking like this, let’s just go with it ok?)
I’m coming at U with a fresh & green look. To me, green means fresh, growth, renewal, positive energy…I just love the color green. The inspiration behind this look was totally the Pixicat top for Uber! You need to check out this event for the top, and for so many other cute items. Dangerous on the pocketbook but so worth it, you know.
Building around the top, I had a few thoughts before going OH YEAH, THAT TUTU! I’m talking about the one Nylon Outfitters put out in the spring for Collabor88. It’s all silky and femme and has the best drape to it. It just looks soft, you know? I like skirts that drape well, and in SL I’m extra particular about them. This one has it.
These shoes, doe. I have been wanting to post about my Muka ballet flats since I scored on the black ones at OMGatcha a while back. (FYI…I will never tire of black shoes, ever, ever, ever in either life.) For all you “old” *ahem* vintage avis out there…you’ll remember DeLa’s ballet flats that were similar to these back in about 2009 or so. I’ve been wanting a mesh pair since it (mesh) became a thing…ballet flats with the wrap around ankle ribbon. Seriously I could never tire of this style: it’s timeless in my eyes no matter what’s trendy. Muka aced it with this version- love them! (And you can wear the flats without the ribbon, but srsly why would you??)
Ok, so many words, so little time. So much more I could say, but I’ll leave you with a kiss, a hug, a hi5, and a see ya reeeeeal soon. XO, Abra
I’m loving this Offbeat dress from Kustom 9 & these jelly (!!!) sandals by Amala (from The Chapter Four). Girly cute items with some interest to them.
And I am wearing a new Birdy skin! It’s from The Secret Affair and it is soft and dreamy…everything we have come to love about Nina’s skins.
The last thing I must mention. My Wasabi Pills hair. I can’t get enough of this hair brand. There aren’t any spectacular ombre colors, or wild fly-away hairs…just simple, pretty, well done hair. And it really adds a clean finish to any outfit. I just love them! XO, Abra
Some of my favorites, all in one look. XO, Abra
ps. Loving this Haste top + Spellbound hair! OMG, they are amazing!
I’m on a roll! Loving up this GATO jean romper @ The Season’s Story. You know I love me some gradients and this “juice” color is right up my alley.
Also <3 this Olive hair @ Hair Fair. It’s called “Alice” and it’s so perfectly prim & girly! Olive also makes the best colors…lots of rainbow hair (which is my favorite.)
Last but not least, Pixicat’s summer sandals @ The Season’s Story give me more of that perfectly braided strapping that I adore. (see: my dress 3 posts ago.) So much goodness <3 XO, Abra
Hi dolls, I am coming to you with a prim & proper look served up my way. Loving this Blues hair (created by Elisa of Okkbye!) for Hair Fair 2014. It’s very Die Antwoord with it’s punky, baby bangs…just LOVE. Blues is a brand-new hair store, and I will SO be keeping an eye on this one.
And you know I love a good shoe. My shoes are Pixicat for The Secret Affair. They are so perfectly over the top, my favorite type of shoe. (If you’re going to wear shoes at all, make a statement, ok.) The base is color change as well, if you like to clash a little. (Clashing can be lovely and is very current, atm.)
My top is Shai and I squee over the tiny star print on chambray blue…just perfect. And I was particularly happy when it’s waist matched perfectly with The Secret Store’s skater skirt. Maybe someday we’ll have standardized waist sizes, but until then it’s a roll of the dice & I got lucky.
So much good stuff to blog, so little time. Until the next look, much love to you. XO, Abra
I think this is the first hairstyle I’ve blogged that covers half my face. Ever. Pretty amazing, huh? I suppose I’m more of a fan of showing my whole face in looks. What won me over with this hairstyle? A few things: the unique blue color, which is soft and almost natural looking, if that makes sense; the androgynous cut that just screams punk to me; the soft, combed-over look; how I can (finally) put my shaved hairbases to work here. Did I mention this hairstyle is free? Well it is! Uncleweb Studio is giving this away as a group gift for the Creation.JP event. Just join the free group and the hair is yours.
So…this outfit was actually inspired by my sweater. I’ve been meaning to pay some mind to Gato. I love this store and can remember the exact moment when I first learned about this brand. How could I forget? Lalu’s creations are amazing and she creates clothing with some of the most unique patterns out there. I love this Invaders Pull sweater for it’s bold graphics, loose fit (a dude could probably wear this as well) and deep V…because, deep V y’all. I also have to mention this Bianca dress, which basically contradicts everything I just said about Gato. It’s so clean, simple, perfect. It totally reminds me of the ‘90’s…like it should be worn by Kate Moss in a CK One ad or something, am I right? You can see it better here, as Miss Okkbye wore it perfectly this way.
Another love up or two are my Akeyo shoes from this month’s The Mens Dept. I’ve been a fan of artoo Magneto since I first came across his work a near half decade ago (gulp). Still one of my favorite long-standing brands in SL for sure. These hi-top shoes hit all the best marks: well-made simplicity, extra tall hi-tops with a bit of flair at the top (which, beyond good style, is perfect for tucking your skinny jeans), no laces = extra unique. They are my city ninja boots!!
Oh, and not to forget my Remarkable Oblivion boom box from Summerfest. Ugh, just love this. RO is a brand I need to post about here, because I truly love everything they release. It’s so well made, with the kind of details that make an item really interesting. Enjoy! XO, Abra
This look was entirely inspired by Pixicat’s new dress for The Season’s Story (opens July 10th - that’s tomorrow!) What a perfect piece - it’s summery, girly, but has enough edge to it with the smart belt and amazing braided straps. Ugh. I love it!
Another thing I love is body jewelry…if you haven’t noticed. ;D Of all kinds too…girly + delicate, goth, tough, tribal, simple… For this reason I am loving Jus† Magne†ized’s new Genesis septum rings. There’s a big one and a small one (I’m wearing the small one) that can be worn separately or together. Because the only way to make a nose ring better is to layer it. For real.
I’m also continuing my love for Wasabi Pills hair - it’s so clean, if that makes sense. The simplicity with attention to detail gets me every time.
And lest I forget to mention these shoes…I was going to pair this dress with one of Ingenue’s Summerfest release sandals. And I accidentally put these on instead. Of course, this was a happy accident and after comparisons with the sandals, I knew that I had to take my look in this direction. Most of the time fashion is deliberate, however it’s ok to experiment, make mistakes, play…sometimes it leads you to an even better place. XO, Abra
Feeling dark today…and badass. The kind of darkness that feels good. Not emo, powerful. Not hiding, planning. Sometimes you gotta do your thing. I started as a goth in SL. I wavered between that and a medieval fairy princess. As far as SL fashion is concerned, that’s all that appealed to me at first. Eclectic. I guess that says a lot about my style now. No boundaries, no fear. You have to wear what you want and be who you want if you want to be truly happy. That’s what I want.
Loving this So Hai bodysuit, even with it’s imperfections. It’s fierce. I forgive the misaligned seams because I’ve been around the block in SL fashion and I know what a pain in the a$$ it is to align seams. The rest you might have already seen, but that only makes more of a statement to how well these pieces are made and how much I like them. Until next time… XO, Abra
Sometimes you need to strip it all down to something simple. This is what I need today, and it feels good. Loving this dress by Fishy Strawberry (at FaMESHed!) and this hair by Spellbound (probably my favorite long hair in SL at the moment).
The former is super simple with a nice lace detail that gives some femininity to the dress. The latter is funky and cool, although don’t be scared of the bi-colored option! You can wear it straight up if that’s what you’re into. And come Halloween, you can get witchy with it as well (it comes with it’s own witch hat).
Oh, and this Reign platforms…how could I not comment on how much I love them. Everything I look for in a shoe: simple & classic, funky with a statement, well made! XO, Abra
Feeling like a warrior chick today! This Pixicat dress for Rhapsody is giving me all the Shiva courage I need to take on the world. Rawr! XO, Abra
So much to crush on…<3
Enjoy! XO, Abra
Feeling like a hungry bear today. No, like for real. Like…in real life. So! Going along with this in BOTH lives. When life hands you lemons, eat them…that’s how it goes, right?
Anyway…these yoga pants are from Twisted Angel Emporium and they will give you the hottest a$$ in SL. For real. I’m not even going to post a pic of my bum…you’ll have to go demo them for yourself!
Loving this Elska tattoo and these Flite hi-tops soo much. Both are at Hello Sunshine this month!
More to come. XO, Abra
PS. I’m a close up!
So, I’ve been posting a lot of headshots on my flickr stream and I’ve been wondering how I could incorporate them into "Lately Great". I love the simple presentation of my blog & I’m kind of hesitant to interrupt the simplicity with headshots, however this allows me some space to share what I’m loving and looking forward to. Hope you like this new/old section (I’ve tried it before a long time ago) and let me know if you have any feedback. XO, Abra
LOOKING FORWARD TO:
Re: my last post —-> The Mikunch dresses are finally out at Kustom9! I am so in love with traditional, embroidered dresses like this one and I love collecting them in both lives. The version you see here is the best I’ve seen in SL to this date: beautifully emroidered with a rainbow of flowers, embellished with pompoms around a beaded, drawstring empire waist, and a white lace petticoat underneath. I’m in heaven! What’s more, it comes with a color change HUD and comes in 4 other styles as well. I love all the other things in this outfit as well, but I’m super overwhelmed with the beauty of this dress so I’ll leave you here for now. XO, Abra
ps. Zoom Larger!
Loving me some long, a-line skirts right now and this one fits the bill. It’s from a new store called Leechouette, opened by the talented blogger Linolatina of Another Myself. Bloggers know what people love to wear because we’re all in touch with what’s new, interesting, and wearable. I’ll be keeping an eye on this store!
I also love this tie shirt from Shai. It’s the perfect length to wear with high-waisted skirts & pants. Before putting on this skirt, I was wearing this top with some flower print high-waisted jeans from Moon, which was a lovely combo as well.
One last thing to mention is this hat from Mikunch. I absolutely love this new-ish store! All the clothing has a lovely vintage appeal to it and is well made with some fantastic details that make it very unique. I’m currently (impatiently) waiting for Kustom9 to open so I can try on all of their new dresses. The examples are in the store and all four of them are lovely. Until next time… XO, Abra
